If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately
be looking for a body in the coach. —Alfred Hitchcock

When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?

If you told me you expect troubled characters to have epiphanies in bathrooms, I wouldn't be surprised. After all, I have an actual series by that name.

I expect humour that makes me genuinely giggle, that doesn't take away from the touching and serious parts of the story. And they are always, always well written. xxx

I expect fanfic that stands on its own -- you bring characters to life so well that I generally don't feel like I'm missing much for not knowing the source material.

Thats helpful to know! I've wondered about the balance between introducing characters and jumping in, and I'm glad it works in my writing.
