So...I've been attending Toastmaster meetings for a few months, and the way the meetings work is that members volunteer for certain tasks every week - like timing speeches and counting the number of times the speaker says "Uh". I'm supposed to pick the "Word of the Day" for the next meeting.

The WotD is generally a multi-syllabic word that speakers try to shoehorn into their impromptu speeches, with predictably awkward results. It's often tangentially related to the "Topic of the Day" which is picked by The Toastmaster. (Yeah, it's totally a cult.)

Someone must have been moved by School Spirit because next week's topic is "Longhorn".

I scratched my chin for a minute and then picked a suitably pretentious Word of the Day )
