I own some items that are out-of-order/ in need of repair. I don't have the ability to fix them myself and getting them repaired professionally will cost more than the items are worth. i can't donate them because they don't work perfectly but I don't want to send them to the land fill. Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do with them?

Item 1: Microwave oven.

Brand: Chefmate

The flaw: It cooks fine, but there's some kind of short-circuit in the touch pad so it spontaneously beeps and sets up the timer. I have to keep it unplugged so it doesn't spontaneously run on its own or keep me awake.

Disposal: If I give it to the city, it goes into the landfill. I don't want to give it to Goodwill if it's unsafe. Repair is pointless since the microwave cost $30 in the first place. The only place in town (I know of) that accepts microwaves for recycling is hard to get to.

Item 2: Air mattress, full size

Brand: Coleman

The flaw: It has a leak I can't locate and hence fix.

Disposal: I can't donate a leaky air mattress. It's big and not bio-degradable so I don't want it to go to a landfill

Item 3: Messenger bag

Brand: Unknown

The flaw: Broken zipper

Disposal: It's too functional to throw away, and not functional enough to use.

Any suggestions?
