Highest Crane Operator in the World
Jan. 15th, 2009 12:26 amThere's a construction site across the street from my lab building, and I've lately been crushing on the Tower Cranes because they are so darn awesome.
I've been pondering what it would be like to work on one. I'd have to climb a 20-storey ladder and spend everyday in a tiny cabin balancing on a needle point, in extreme weather conditions. Is there a bathroom up there or would I have to climb down those 20 floors of ladders every time I needed to go? How would I cope with my period 150 feet up in the sky? Would I get internet?
It's a pretty scary job, and the $32/hr wage is, imo, not nearly enough to make up for the discomfort. But then I see this picture and wish I had the guts to do it anyway.( Click to see... )
