I've had my fill of Hysterical Mothers Missing Their Kids in fiction, and I know I shouldn't support the "women are controlled by their hormones" trope.

But I was so nerdtastically excited by the altering of hormone levels by reprogramming the brain, and the consequence of the long residence time of hormones in the body, I decided to let it slide this once. I'm a neuro-geek. It's what I do!
